Padraig Whelan “Off & On” Round Up
For those who are unawares, the right honourable Padraig Whelans’ new single “Off & On” will be released on Monday 9th of April via www.padraigwhelan.com, following our launch gig at the Gladstone this Sunday. Gideon Coe and Don Letts over at BBC 6Music have given it a spin, along with XFM and Steve Lamaqc on his BBC Radio 2 show, picking up some very positive reviews in the process. Click on some of the links below if you don’t believe me… Hope to see you this Sun, DJHx Cinnamon 2012 This is a really old song, used on that “Echo Beach” TV show a few years back. Thought I’d give it a bit of a dust off and do a new version. See what yers think… Right, click (not “right-click”) on the link above to have a squiz at the Spotify playlist for March, which includes Black Joe and the Honeybears with the best opening line of any song. Ever. There’s also the lovely “Low Man” by Alberta Cross, and for fans of Hank Moody, there’s My Morning Jackets cover of Reg Dwights’ “Rocket Man”, and the beautiful “Andalusia” by Hammock. “Coffee In St Pauls” from the 2010 EP “The Life & Times of the Man With No Name”, feat. the lovely Kirsten McClure on backing vocals Dusting off some old tracks…”Born Again Hooligan” from first ep “The Life & Times Of The Man With No Name” As we are just about to tip over the edge of January and fall into February, better late than never, here is this months eagerly (ahem) anticipated playlist. Heading the charge is the mind-bending ‘82 release from Charanjit Singh, “Synthesizing: Ten Ragas to a Disco Beat”, followed swiftly but never gingerly, by Local Natives, The Tallest Man on Earth, and the fantastic new single from Leonard Cohen. Be lucky, DJH x
